| Position No: 054700FTE Status: 0.50Shift: Days Under the general supervision of the Department Manager, serves as first contact for incoming customer's in the ambulatory setting by ascertaining customer's needs, and appropriately directing visitors and callers. Schedules appointments, verifies medical coverage and acts in a clerical and cashier capacity. Guidelines include all hospital, departmental and personnel policies and procedures. There is no patient care assignment. | |

| Minimum Education: High School or equivalent Minimum Experience: PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Medical office/clerical experience preferred. Bilingual preferred. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Receives and assists clients/patients and guests entering the department; ascertains needs and directs appropriately. 2. Answers and screens telephone calls and requests for information. 3. Uses automated appointment scheduling system to make new and follow-up appointments for patients. Keeps schedules accurate, adjusting and re-scheduling as necessary. 4. Provides paperwork for customers to complete. Updates/verifies insurance & personal information at every visit, & provides guidance on basic information needed by nursing & medical staff. Interviews patients to determine eligibility, medical class (cont.) 5. (cont'd-138611) financial status and medical record number. Processes patient discharge paperwork.
